Who are you nuturing?

It’s been a fun time in the Doble house the past couple of years. Daisy, our Sprocker, has turned our worlds upside down - literally in some cases! Our routines and habits have changed to allow this cute little thing into our lives and home. Waking up in the middle of the night for toilet breaks, morning walks, spending time with her instead of watching our favourite TV programmes. We also had to get used to playing with an overly excited dog who seems to be running on Duracell! The furniture has been chewed, my socks were disappearing from the washing rack - it seemed a constant battle at times. There have been lots of fun times too, don’t get me wrong. But we have had to put in plenty of time training her and it’s now really paid off. Apart from the cute tricks the kids have taught her, she’s much more responsive, listens and obeys more and seems to be really contented with how her life is shaping out.

It’s been lovely to see her go from a tiny chaotic pup to something that is developing her personality and confidence everyday and that we, as a family, have come together to help guide and nurture her.

It’s made me question, who I am nurturing and drawing alongside to guide and encourage in life - whether that is a Christian life or not. Of course I look to my kids as the first point, but after that, am I doing enough with the relationships I have? Am I ‘helping’ anyone on their journey of faith? Like training Daisy, it takes time, effort, perseverance and plenty of smiles when things get challenging but that’s part of our calling, isn’t it.
