New church children’s worker joins the team in Peasedown

A growing church in Peasedown St John has recruited a new children’s worker to assist with the increase in activities the church runs each week. St John’s Church has appointed local resident and qualified Art and Design Teacher, Sarah Carney to the post.

Sarah, who has been a part of the church family for over four years, said:

“I’m thrilled and excited to have been chosen as St John’s new children’s worker. I’m looking forward to working with Children’s Pastor Rob Bubyer and Vicar Revd Matthew Street to further enhance the activities and opportunities provided for local children.

Over the past 6-8 years, a lot of new initiatives and projects have been created to show children, and their parents, that St John’s has something to offer for everyone – irrespective of their age.”

In her new role, Sarah will oversee and coordinate:

  • Little Lights – a Friday morning toddler group
  • Joseph’s Crew – one of the Sunday afternoon children’s groups run by the church at Peasedown Youth Centre
  • The new SJ’s After School Club on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at St John’s Church.

The SJ’s After School Club is being set up in response to the success of the church-run morning breakfast club, held five days a week at Peasedown Youth Centre.

Revd Matthew Street said:

“Two years ago we stepped out in faith to provide breakfast for hungry school children three mornings a week. Now, two years later with 25-30 children attending five mornings a week, we’re pleased to be launching a new After School Club too.

Sarah Carney has a wealth of experience in pre-school and primary school teaching, and so we are delighted to have her join our staff team.”

SJ’s After School Club starts on September 6th and will run from 3.15pm to 6.15pm Mondays-Wednesdays. For details visit www.stjsgroup.church/afterschoolclub
