St John’s Church in Peasedown St John is set to continue with its active programme of children’s holiday clubs with a special festive treat in the run up to Christmas. On Wednesday 21st December, parents will be given the chance to catch up with some last minute Christmas shopping, as all primary school-aged children are invited to take part in SJs Does Christmas – an action-packed day of games, craft, fun, Christian teaching, and the re-telling of the Christmas story.

Rob Bubyer, the children’s pastor at St John’s Church is organising the event. He said:

‘‘This is the next of our children’s holiday clubs this year, with more lined up in 2017.

With an action-packed day prepared that will not only include Christmas fun and games, but will also remind children what the real meaning behind the occasion is.

The Christmas Story has been told and retold for thousands and thousands of years. There have been movies made, stage productions created, and many other things to retell ‘The Greatest Story Ever Told.’ Through all of that, many of the details have been muddled.

Because of all of the confusion about the Christmas Story, it is so important that we teach our kids the real Christmas story, as written in the Bible. That is what we attempt to do at SJ’s Does Christmas.”

SJs Does Christmas only has 50 spaces available, which are likely to fill up fast, so parents/carers are being encouraged to register their children online as soon as possible at www.stjsgroup.church/holidayclub

The holiday club will run from 9 am – 3 pm in St John’s Church, Church Road, on Wednesday 22nd December.  At 3pm, family members and the wider community are invited to a special service to showcase some of the work the children have completed.

Rob added:

“We are also holding a Christmas Service for all the family straight after the holiday club, at 3pm, with a special treat from the children at ‘SJ’s Does Christmas’.

We hope you can stay with your children for this special service of carols and the Christmas story with mince pies and candy canes.”

Children will need to bring a packed lunch to the event. There is also a registration fee of £5 per child for the day. If cost is an issue, then please get in touch with us. Email rob.bubyer@stjsgroup.church or phone 01761 300410
