St. J's Group Launch a Good Neighbour Network

Good Neighbour Network

We’re all about showing God's love in action by helping people in our community. If someone needs prayer, practical help around the house, emotional support, or even a meal or a lift, we connect them with people in our church who can lend a hand. It's simple: we hear a need, our central admin shares it, and our members step up to help. We're here to make a real difference, one act of kindness at a time.

A Helping Hand, Rooted in Faith

At the St J’s Group, our faith finds its expression in action. We believe in demonstrating God's love through practical support for both our church family and the wider community of Peasedown St John, Wellow, Shoscombe and Foxcote.

The Good Neighbour Network is our way of putting faith into action. Whether it's a prayer for healing, a helping hand in the garden, a lift to an appointment, or a comforting meal, we aim to meet needs with compassion and care.

How does it work?  A simple call or email alerting the Church Office to a person in need of prayer or practical help sets the wheels in. From there, requests for practical help are reviewed by the Administrator and, if appropriate, added to the weekly email to church members and others on the mailing list.  Those able to help contact the Administrator who removes the request from future emails.  Needs which are not met remain in the weekly email until the Administrator discerns it appropriate to remove them.

Prayer needs are communicated to the Vicar who discerns who it can be passed on to others and, if they can, whether the request needs to be anonymised.

This isn't just about tasks; it's about fostering a community of care, where God's love is tangibly felt in the everyday lives of our neighbours and fellow church members. If you see a need, or if you have a heart to help, please contact the Church Office. Let's work together to make a difference, one act of kindness at a time.
