Can’t stop singing

Rob Doble & Claire Carr
Worship Pastors

It’s amazing to think that it’s only been a year since Claire and I were handed the baton from Jerry. So much seems to have happened in that time and we’ve had some amazing times of worship.

There are many highlights but here are a few that really stand out to us:

The Church at Home weekend that was run by Stephen Backhouse. This was held during the first few weeks in our roles and it was fantastic to see people step forward to lead or support the four worship slots needed.

Prayer & Praise, our monthly Monday worship night, continues to see God moving in powerful ways. It’s an evening which has no structure, where we let the Holy Spirit just lead the way and see where it all goes.

The Carol service was a very special event and it was lovely to have so many people involved - with a string and brass section, keyboards, Eli Benyon on the cajon plus our beautiful sounding choir made up of volunteers. There were children involved in readings and there was a special ‘Once in Royal David’s city’ solo from Isabella Carney.

The worship continues to go from strength to strength, in both Sunday services and we have had some amazing Spirit-filled moments in the morning and afternoon. I’d like to thank all the morning team for playing without Claire or I having to be involved that much - thanks Kim Cottle, David Cox, Cath Downing, Bob & Yvonne Grace and David & Elaine Williams.

The Worship team has also been busy at other events including Alpha and Inside Out. It has been lovely to see Claire and Cath really step into their calling through Inside Out and I hear nothing but praise for them both.

We continue to support the Filling Station and Claire & I have continued to do this with Ruth Reeve and Mary & Keith Warren.

We’ve had new members join us - Lucy Messer, Sarah Bubyer, Eli Benyon - and some members leave or take a break.

A big thank you to Keith & Mary Warren, Bob and Yvonne Grace, Ruth Reeve and Nic Meadows for all the time and support you’ve given us.

We are constantly looking to move the worship forward and have a planned introduction of new songs at Soul Food, along with training sessions, singing workshops plus other exciting things. There is also an extended worship event planned - watch out for more information.

Finally, I’d like to thank you all for supporting Claire and I as we’ve grown into this role and for encouraging us.
