Our average weekly attendance of children is around 20 children each week between the ages of 0-11. Its great to have many children and families attending Soul Food. We want to continue with our vision based on Proverbs 22:6 that says; “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it”. Our vision as a Children’s Ministry is to partner with parents to raise Children to be Ready, Equipped and Willing for all that God has called them to be and do (CREW).
It was sad to say farewell to Liam Adam who has been working with us over the last couple of years and I know many of the children miss his energy and bounciness. In September we had to merge Key Stage 1 and 2 together into a single group with not having enough leaders to run two groups. This has been challenging trying to teach to such a wide age range from 5 to 11. Please do pray for more leaders who could lead a session to either group (5-8 and 8-11s).
Also from January 2019, we employed Kathy Mitchell to oversee Joseph’s Crew after Sarah Carney stepped down after doing it for so many years. My thanks goes to Sarah for all she has done for our pre-school ministry. Kathy comes with a wealth of experience and love for our pre-schoolers and I know will do a great job in the year to come.
I am also excited by us trying a new show and tell at the start of Soul Food on the first Sunday of the month where we get to show what the children have been learning about in their Crews. Plus on the third Sundays, to experience communion together as family has been lovely.
Rob wants to say a very BIG thank you to all our volunteers in Joseph’s, Ruth’s and Peter’s Crew each Sunday who not just look after our children but minister the good news each week.
