Outreach and Mission

On a mission to support projects outside of Peasedown

Peter Morgan

The Mission Outreach committee has two main activities, connected but subtly different. The primary focus is to oversee the ‘mission giving’ of the St John’s church family on behalf of the PCC. This is so that we are concentrating on good solid Christian-principled projects outside of ourselves, and channel resources (both time and money) into some of these. As a committee, our giving ‘budget’ in one calendar year is based on one tenth of giving into the church coffers the previous calendar year. The second and subordinate activity is to plan the program for Mission Sunday, in early October each year, when the church family is able to hear from some of those that we are contributing to financially in that year.

The committee, Peter Morgan is chair, supported by Jane Street, Jo Vening, Cathy Mitchell and Kim Cottle, seek to have local, national and international people/organisations that we support, and for some of those organisations we contribute to, we have built up a strong relationship over the years. It was one long standing ‘friend’ and one newly supported organisation that we heard from on Mission Sunday in the autumn in 2018; Jan Ransome of Flame International, and Rachel Fadipe of SAT 7.

Those that we supported in 2018 are listed right, although we are open to other suggestions (so contact one or other of us!!)
